The Oak Mountain High School girls’ cross country team finished third in team standings Oct. 22 at the 20th annual St. Vincent’s Husky Challenge in Trussville.

Haley Davidson led the Eagles in the 5K event at Hewitt-Trussville Middle School with her time of 19:54.66, which placed her eighth overall in individual standings. Teammate Allie Ingram came in 21st overall in individual standings with her time of 20:46.19.

A trio of Oak Mountain runners, including Elly Gay, Amanda Howard and Christina Tam helped the Eagles clinch the third-place finish after finishing in the top 45 individual positions.

Jacqueline Head of Shelby County, running as an individual, placed fourth overall in individual standings with her time of 19:36.09.

Briarwood Christian finished seventh in team standings in the girls’ 5K team standings. Becky Thielman led the Lions after finishing 18th in individual standings with a time of 20:37.09. The Lions’ Mallory Mathias finished 20th overall with her time of 20:45.18.

Pelham came in one spot behind the Lions in eighth place in the girls’ team standings. Mary Grace Strozier led the Panthers as she finished second overall in individual standings with her time of 19:03.60. Lesya Lackey of Pelham finished 25th overall with her time of 21:07.61.

Thompson finished 11th in the girls’ team standings. Michaela Graber led the Warriors as she came in 31st overall with her time of 21:21.50.

Spain Park finished 13th in the girls’ team standings. Jessica Bilek led the Jaguars as she finished 28th in individual standings with her time of 21:17.04.

Indian Springs came in 22nd in the girls’ team standings. Indian Springs finished 128th in individual standings with her time of 25:09.89.

Spain Park came in fourth in the boys’ team standings.

Steven Crain led the Jaguars as he placed third overall in boys’ 5K individual standings with his time of 16:19.32. Rome Fiore of Spain Park finished 18th overall with his time of 17:02.49. Russ Lorino of Spain Park came in 27th overall with his time of 17:22.06.

Oak Mountain finished one spot behind the Jaguars in fifth place in the boys’ team standings. Tanney Syx led the Eagles with his time of 17:27.84, which placed him 30th overall. Will Hamaker came in one spot behind his teammate in 31st overall with his time of 17:28.13.

Thompson finished 10th in the boys’ team standings. Michael Johnson led the Warriors as he placed 19th overall in individual standings with his time of 17:03.29.

Pelham came in 12th in the boys’ team standings. Mason Webber led the Panthers as he finished 36th overall in individual standings with his time of 17:37.94.

Briarwood Christian placed 19th in the boys’ team standings. Thomas Countess led the Lions as he finished 123rd overall in individual standings with his time of 19:45.97.

Shelby County finished 27th in the boys’ team standings. Wally Morris led the Wildcats with his time of 21:23.51, which placed him 167th in individual standings.

Indian Springs came in one spot behind the Wildcats in 28th in team standings. Connor McGarty led Indian Springs with his time of 21:38.65, which placed him 174th overall.
