Falcons fall to Columbus State in women’s soccer match

The University of Montevallo women’s soccer team fell on the road at Columbus State University 4-0 in a Peach Belt Conference match Oct. 26.

Montevallo (5-11-1 overall, 2-6-1 in Peach Belt Conference) had just three shots in the match, with two coming from sophomore Christine Prince. Junior goalkeeper Alyssa Maxwell faced 22 total shots, including 14 on goal, while making nine saves.

Kiana Nicholson scored the first three goals for the Cougars, all of which came in the first half. She scored in the fourth, 26th and 33rd minutes of the game. The final Columbus State goal came in the 84th minute when Jackie Ellis scored for the Cougars.

The Falcons’ loss, along with Georgia College’s win over USC-Aiken, officially ends Montevallo’s chances for postseason play.

The Falcons will return to action Saturday, Oct. 29 at noon as they travel to Georgia Southwestern State University for their season finale.
