The Shelby County Sheriff’s Department is investigating the deaths of three adults whose bodies were discovered in a residence in an unincorporated area of northwestern Shelby County.

Deputies discovered the bodies in a residence on Roubdioux Road, which is between Helena and Bessemer off South Shades Crest Road, after the Shelby County 911 office received a call reporting a possible death at the residence at about 2:43 p.m. on Oct. 28.

Deputies identified the bodies as 53-year-old Anita M. Castillo, 78-year-old Phyllis J. Castillo and 58-year-old Melvin R. Jones. Officials said they discovered a handgun near the bodies.

Phyllis Castillo was Anita Castillo and Melvin Jones’ mother, deputies said.

“It is not believed there is any immediate threat to the community,” read a sheriff’s department press release. “Investigators will wait for autopsy and toxicology results to determine the cause and manner of death.”

According to the sheriff’s department, there currently are no suspects in the case.
