COLUMBIANA – Hundreds of children and their parents flocked to Main Street on Monday afternoon for the city’s annual Monster Walk.

The 11th annual event, sponsored by the Columbiana Merchants and Professionals Association, gave local businesses a chance to give back to the community by handing out candy to kids.

Businesses along Main Street set up booths outside their businesses to hand out candy and other fun items to the kids.

The Columbiana Police department blocked off Main Street for a couple hours to keep pedestrians safe from vehicular traffic.

Many of the kids – and some of the parents – dressed up for the event.

Tamara White, 7, dressed as a vampire. Bryan White, 5, dressed as a Transformer. Their grandmother, Columbiana resident Paula White, said she’s brought the kids for the last several years.

“It’s just a lot of fun,” Paula White said.
