In response to the letter regarding the amount of money to be spent on a new senior citizen building, I am in total agreement with the writer.

This seems an enormous amount in view of the small number of participants who attend regularly. However, being a senior citizen myself, I do appreciate the thought and concern of city leaders in their consideration for seniors.

The city has many needs and some should take priority over such an expensive project, especially since there exists a sufficient place in excellent condition and well located for seniors.

Being almost 70 years old myself, I don’t have time to attend the senior center because I still work part time and spend much of my time trying to keep my property from washing away, due to the four to six inches of blacktop added to my street that causes severe flooding to my yard every time it rains.

This is a need that should be addressed and considered also, especially since I am not the only tax-paying citizen affected by this flooding situation on Mildred Street.

The situation has been ongoing for about three-and-a-half years now. It sometimes seems as if I have moved into a city without a conscience.
