Former Oak Mountain High School football standout Thomas Holloway, a sophomore at West Point Military Academy, was recently honored as the Football Bowl Subdivision Independent Co-Defensive Player of the Week following the Black Knights’ win against Rutgers on Nov. 12 at Yankee Stadium.

Holloway made a team-high 14 tackles, his second double-digit outing of the season, intercepted his first career pass, and broke up another throw against the Scarlet Knights.

For the season, Holloway ranks second on the team with 61 tackles. He has one interception and two pass breakups in 10 games.

The Shelby County native is the fourth Army player to earn an Independent Player of the Week award. The FBS Independent Players of the Week are selected by members of a nationwide media panel, which includes equal representation from each of the independent institutions’ coverage markets.
