The Evangel Christian School boys’ basketball team defeated First Assembly Christian 72-27 in its season opener Nov. 18.

Adam Gurley led the Lightning (1-0) with 20 points.

Dajon Townson added 19 points. Mark Underwood chipped in 11 points.

GIRLS

Senior Rainey Ketcham had 17 points, seven rebounds and seven steals to pace Evangel Christian School in a 40-22 win over First Assembly Christian of Ashland in the Lightning’s season opener Nov. 18.

Freshman Whitney Thorpe scored eight points and grabbed 17 reboinds for the Lightning, the two-time defending ACSC champions who won their 16th straight conference game dating back two seasons.
