The Montevallo High School boys’ basketball team defeated Shades Mountain Christian 43-39 in high school basketball action Nov. 17.

Trevor Chatham led the Bulldogs with 19 points in the victory. Chatham also grabbed five rebounds.

Korey Cunningham chipped in 15 points and a team-high 16 rebounds to finish with a double-double.

Garrius Chappell finished with four points and seven boards. Bobby Anderson added two points and six boards. Cortez Williams finished with one point and three rebounds.

GIRLS

Kiah Smith poured in 21 points and added four steals, while Kerrington Maddox chipped in six points and 15 rebounds to lead the Montevallo High School girls’ basketball team to a 35-29 win Nov. 17 over Shades Mountain Christian.

After taking an 18-10 lead at the half, Montevallo extended the lead to 28-16 by the end of the third quarter.  The Eagles outscored Montevallo 13-7 in the final period, however, to cut the margin of victory to six points.

Montevallo will take an extended Thanksgiving break from the court before returning to action with Nov. 28 and 29 road trips to Holy Spirit and West Blocton, respectively.
