William E. ‘Ruben’ Hayes Sr., age 71, of Calera passed away Wednesday, Nov. 16, 2011 at his home. He is a member of Enon Baptist Church.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Loraine Tucker; son, Keller Tucker ‘Kit’ Hayes; and sisters, Sue Bice and Sara Nell Bice.

William is survived by his wife, Linda Keller ‘Beckie’ Hayes of Calera; children, William E. ‘Eddie’ Hayes Jr. (Candy) of Calera, Dana Hayes Byrd (Lance) of Montevallo and Joy Hayes Toney (Hugh) of Calera; daughter-in-law, Petrinia Hayes of Picayune, Miss.; brother, Charles Henry ‘Buddy’ Hayes of Georgia; grandchildren, Matthew Hayes, Haylee Hayes, Zane Hayes, Shawna Cargile, Dakota Cargile, Dusty Hayes, Alyssa Hayes, Jack Hayes, Beaux Byrd, Tyler Byrd, Kaci Wells and Gabe Hayes; and great-grandchildren, Madison Hayes, Kayson Hayes and Ben Hayes; and a host of nieces and nephews.

Funeral service will be held Friday, Nov. 18, 2011 at 2 p.m. at Rockco Funeral Home Chapel with visitation held one hour prior to the service. Burial will be at Salem Cemetery in Calera. Bro. Bill Trawick officiating.
