Lightning drop first game in two years

The Evangel Christian School girls’ basketball lost its first game in the state of Alabama since 2009 after falling to Covenant Christian Academy of Huntsville 39-37 on Nov. 19.
Evangel Christian jumped out to an 11-5 first quarter lead and led 21-15 at the half, but Covenant outscored the Lightning 15-7 in the third quarter to take the lead. The fourth quarter went back-and-forth until the Falcons hit a late shot to seal the victory.
Senior guard Rainey Ketcham led the way for Evangel Christian (1-1) with 23 points, including four 3-pointers. Ketcham also pulled down 10 rebounds and had four steals.
