Alvin John “Al” Burson, 64, of Montevallo lost his courageous battle with cancer at home on Nov. 17, 2011. He was born on Sept. 7, 1947, in Gadsden. Preceding him in death were his parents, William Alvin Burson and Bernice Baker Burson.

He attended Glenco High School and Gadsden State Junior College in Gadsden and Jacksonville State College in Jacksonville. He was a former officer of the Roebuck Elks Lodge in Birmingham.

Mr. Burson worked many years in the copier business in Birmingham, and at the time of his retirement, was the proprietor of Albata Geodesic Domes.

He is survived by his wife, Patricia Williams Burson of Montevallo; his daughters, Joy Bernice Burson of Hoover and Tanya Renee Clements of Ladera Ranch, Calif.; his brother, Roger Otis Burson of Ashville; and many relatives and friends.

Visitation was held at Rockco Funeral Home Chapel, Montevallo, Sunday, Nov. 20, 2011 from 6-8 p.m. Funeral services were at the chapel, Monday, Nov. 21, 2011 at 12:30 p.m. with Rev. Joe Mills officiating. Burial was at Alabama National Cemetery, Montevallo, at 1:15 p.m.
