Frances Thaxton, age 74, of Clanton passed away on Nov. 18, 2011 at her residence. She was born in Shelby County, Alabama on Jan. 13, 1937, the daughter of the late Noble Fields and the late Jessie Mae Dammons Fields. Mrs. Thaxton was a devoted homemaker.

She is survived by: husband, Bert Thaxton of Clanton; son, Bradley B. Thaxton of Pelham; daughter, Karla Redmond of Jackson, Ga.; grandchildren, Jonathan Thaxton, Brittany Thaxton, Jeremiah Redmond, Kaitlyn Redmond and Isiac Redmond; sister, Lois Woods of Blairsville, Ga.; sister, Joann Chambers of Winterville, Ga.; and brother, Gene Fields of Winterville, Ga.

Funeral services were held on Sunday, Nov. 20, 2011 at 3 p.m. from the Memorial Chapel of Ellison-Mims Funeral Home with Rev. Lee Lance and Rev. Randy Gothard officiating. The family received friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home located at 1709 Lay Dam Road in Clanton. A private family graveside was held at the Union Grove Community Cemetery in Jemison.
