The Coosa Valley Academy girls basketball team defeated South Montgomery County Academy 47-18 in its Thanksgiving tournament opener Nov. 22.

Lauren Archer led the defending Alabama Independent Schools Association Class 1A champions with 21 points in the victory. Archer also grabbed a team-high 10 rebounds to finish with a double-double.

Kaylan Rich added 11 points and nine rebounds. Amelia Ripley also finished with 11 points.
