Falcons blast Bears to remain undefeated

The University of Montevallo men’s basketball team remained unbeaten Nov. 22 following a 70-52 victory on the road at Miles College.

The Falcons (5-0) were led by senior D.J. Rivera, who scored 24 points, including 18 points in the second half.

Both teams struggled offensively in the first half as Montevallo led 23-15 after the first 20 minutes of action. An offensive explosion in the second half gave the Falcons the lopsided victory.

Senior Chauncey Thompson was second on the team in scoring with 11 points.

The Falcons outrebounded the Golden Bears 52-35. Junior Jeff Hefner led the team with nine boards, while junior Drico Hightower added eight rebounds. Junior Jonas Brown contributed seven boards.

The Falcons will return to action Friday, Nov. 25 at 4 p.m. as they take part in the Coca-Cola Classic at BankTrust Arena. The Falcons will welcome in Georgia Southwestern State, North Alabama and Palm Beach Atlantic for a two-day tournament. The games are at 2 p.m. and 4 p.m. each day on both Friday and Saturday.
