Sheriff’s office: woman robs North Shelby convenience store

The Shelby County Sheriff’s Office is investigating the overnight robbery of a North Shelby convenience store.

At 1:02 a.m. on Nov. 22, the sheriff’s office received a call reporting a robbery from the clerk at the Kangaroo Express in the 2600 block of Valleydale Road, according to a sheriff’s press release. The clerk said a white female had entered the business armed with a knife and demanded cash.

The clerk provided a detailed description of the suspect, and said the suspect had fled in a white passenger car on Valleydale Road.

At about 4:22 a.m., the sheriff’s office got a call from an occupant in a business also in the 2600 block of Valleydale Road reporting a suspicious vehicle. The descrption of the vehicle provided by the caller matched the one given by the clerk at the Kangaroo Express.

Deputies responded, and K-9 was deployed.

A white female was taken into custody in the nearby woods without incident or injury. According to the sheriff’s release, the investigation is ongoing, and more information will be released as it becomes available.
