Larry A. Carroll, age 65, a resident of Shelby, lost his battle with cancer on Monday, Nov. 21, 2011. He died surrounded by a host of family and friends. Funeral services will be 2 p.m., Friday, Nov. 25, 2011 at Bolton Funeral Home. Burial will follow at Still Memorial Cemetery. Visitation was Wednesday, Nov. 23, 2011, from 6-8 p.m. at the funeral home. Larry was a loving husband, father and paw-paw. He was a friend to anyone he met. A good-hearted man, he was always eager to help anyone in need. Larry loved to hunt, was an excellent fisherman and an avid Alabama football fan.

Larry was often described as a hard and dependable co-worker. He worked 20 years for Golden Flake and was known by many as “The Tater Chip Man.” He had recently retired from Red Diamond where he was respected and will be missed by everyone.

Mr. Carroll is preceded in death by his father, Martice Carroll, and a brother, Nolan Carroll. He is survived by his wife, Betty Carroll; sons, Larry Carroll (Carol) and Buck Wilson; daughters, Regina Malon (Bob), Lisa Collis (Rick), Jennifer Darna, Teresa Watkins (James) and Sherry Wilson; mother, Amy Carroll; brothers, Blaine Carroll (Sandy) and Raymond “Red” Carroll (Jackie); sister, Wyknell Madden (Bill); 16 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and numerous other family and friends.
