HOOVER — Jefferson State Community College is the country’s third-fastest growing two-year college, according to Community College Week magazine.

With an enrollment increase of 15 percent, Jeff State ranked as the country’s third-fastest growing community college with an enrollment of between 5,000-9,999 students, according to a Jeff State press release.

“We are excited to see Jefferson State rank as one of the fastest-growing community colleges in the nation,” said David Bobo, Jeff State director of community relations. “It’s a strong indicator of the tremendous educational value offered at Jefferson State, and we are extremely proud of our faculty and staff who make our college such an attractive choice.”

Jeff State reported an enrollment of 9,688 for-credit students in fall 2010, according to the release.

Community College Week based its rankings on U.S. Department of Education data from fall 2009-fall 2010.
