Oak Mountain wins matches in Over the Mountain Duals


The Oak Mountain High School wrestling team won a pair of matches Nov. 30 in the Over the Mountain Duals at Hoover High School.

The Eagles defeated Mountain Brook 45-31 and took down McAdory 60-21 in the Duals.

Eight Oak Mountain wrestlers won their matches against Mountain Brook, including John David (J.D.) Peden, Trigg Langner, Jared Godfrey, Vincent Kimbrough, Evan Webb, Justin Woodall, Christopher Richmond and Billy Dasher.

Ten Eagles claimed individual victories in the match against McAdory, including Bronson Lubresky, Angus McBee, Jacob Darty, Peden, Langner, Godfrey, Kimbrough, Webb, Woodall and Richmond.

Thompson defeated Spain Park 42-31 while dropping a match with Vestavia Hills 62-18 in the Duals.

Thompson won seven matches against Spain Park.

Chaz Pocopanni of Thompson pinned Andres Galinde of Spain Park in the 126-pound match. Luis Munoz of Thompson pinned Tommie Broadwater of Spain Park in the 132-pound match. Christopher Lloyd of Thompson pinned Leon Strong of Spain Park in the 145-pound match.

Jake Rakestraw of Thompson pinned Martin Canales of Spain Park in the heavyweight match. The Warriors’ Matthew Johnson, Hunter Pinneo and Kolby Newton each won matches by forfeit.

Spain Park won seven matches against the Warriors.

The Jaguars’ Tommy Bostany pinned Jacob Fox of Thompson in the 120-pound match. Connor Whatley of Spain Park earned a 3-0 decision over Hunter Gatlin of Thompson in the 138-pound match. Marcus Jackson of Spain Park pinned Nick Gillaspie of Thompson in the 152-pound match.

Spain Park’s Kevin McClure earned a 11-0 major decision over Luke Moore of Thompson in the 160-pound match. Dillon Osborne of Spain Park earned a 4-2 decision over Shane Evans of Thompson in the 170-pound match.

Blake Daniel of Spain Park won by injury default against Jacobi Dial of Thompson in the 182-pound match. Elijah Krukowski earned a 3-2 decision over Jacob Megois of Thompson in the 106-pound match.

Three Thompson wrestlers earned wins against Vestavia Hills, including Megois, Lloyd and Evans.

Spain Park fell to Mountain Brook 42-39 in a match.

Seven Jaguars won their individual matches against the Spartans, including Bostany, Galindo, Whatley, McClure, Daniel, Canales and Jackson Cotney.

Pelham fell to Vestavia Hills 73-3 in the Duals. Tre Maynard earned a 4-1 decision over Tim Davis of Vestavia Hills in the 182-pound match to clinch the Panthers’ lone individual victory.

The Panthers dropped a match against Hoover, 41-32. Six Pelham wrestlers won individual matches against the Bucs, including Riley Pike, Zach Freeze, Cody Wehunt, John Brito-Cuevas, Chris Shiflett and Kenny Hoover.
