Hornets top Shelby County in wrestling match

The Chelsea High School wrestling team defeated Shelby County 41-30 in a wrestling match Dec. 1.

Seven Hornets won their individual matches against the Wildcats.

Evans Shaw of Chelsea pinned Aaron Stagner of Shelby County in the 106-pound match. Jacob Tidwell of Chelsea pinned A.J. Cole of Shelby County in the 120-pound match. Joseph Wipperman of Chelsea pinned Tyler Carter of Shelby County in the 126-pound match.

Michael Waller of Chelsea earned a major decision over Killian Berens of Shelby County in the 132-pound match. Zakary Van Der Geest of Chelsea pinned Luke Miller of Shelby County in the 170-pound match.

David Downard of Chelsea won his match by forfeit.

Five Shelby County wrestlers won matches against Chelsea.

Austin Poe of Shelby County pinned Austin Chadwick of Chelsea in the 145-pound match. Chase Weeks of Shelby County pinned Chandler Wood of Chelsea in the 152-pound match. Chris Upton of Shelby County pinned Cody Garrard of Chelsea in the 160-pound match.

Noah Dorough and Clint Davis of Shelby County each won their matches by forfeit.

Shelby County fell to Lincoln 46-24 in a match Dec. 1. Four Wildcats won their individual matches against Lincoln.

Miller pinned Kenneth Krishak of Lincoln in 1:47 in the 170-pound match. Stagner, Weeks and Upton each won their matches by forfeit.
