ALABASTER – Kenneth and Kristy Bruce are the parents of four boys under the age of 4.

“There is never a dull moment in our house,” Kenneth Bruce said. “We stay busy because the boys are busy, but we love them so much. All four are such blessings to have in our lives.”

The Bruces adopted two of their young sons, Aiden, 4, and Asa, 2, from Ethiopia in 2010. Their other two sons, Noah, 4, and Nathan, 1, complete the young family.

Bruce met his wife at a Fellowship of Christian Athletes Bible study while attending the University of Kentucky. Bruce is originally from Lexington, Ky., and lived there for 29 years.

“I served as student pastor at Porter Memorial Baptist Church in Lexington, Kentucky for six years and as an intern two years until God moved us to Shelby County,” he said.

In January 2011, the couple felt God was telling them a life change was coming.

“I didn’t know what, where or when it would be,” Bruce said. “At first I thought he might be moving us to Africa to serve as missionaries, but those doors never opened.”

Next, the Bruces felt led to Westwood Baptist Church in Alabaster. Bruce became the student pastor at the church.

“I absolutely love it,” he said. “Westwood is a great church with incredible leaders, people who love Jesus and a passion to reach people and make disciples. We are so thankful that God has brought us to serve at Westwood.”

While Bruce spends his days serving the church, Kristy Bruce stays home to raise their sons.

“Kristy and I look forward to rooting ourselves into this community, building meaningful relationships and serving families,” Bruce said. “We are both passionate for Jesus Christ and desire to make him famous locally and globally.

“He has changed our lives,” he added, “and we hope and pray that God would use us to impact many people for his glory, wherever he places us in life.”
