The Pelham High School wrestling team split a pair of matches Dec. 6.

The Panthers defeated Gardendale 42-37. Seven Pelham wrestlers earned victories against Pelham.

Adan Giovanni of Pelham pinned Andrew Spires of Gardendale in the 132-pound match. Cody Wehunt of Pelham defeated Chase Downer of Gardendale in the 160-pound match.

Tre Maynard of Pelham pinned Damian Tinney of Gardendale in the 182-pound match. Chris Shiflett of Pelham pinned Zachary Kolb of Gardendale in the 220-pound match.

Chase Gospondareck, Jansen Murray and Mason Tortorich of Pelham each won matches by forfeit.

Pelham fell to Mountain Brook 51-21. Four Panthers won their individual matches against the Spartans.

Wehunt pinned Austin Gandler of Mountain Brook in the 160-pound match. Maynard earned a 9-2 decision against Chris Diethelm of Mountain Brook in the 182-pound match.

Nicholas Farren of Pelham pinned James Harmon of Mountain Brook in the heavyweight match. Riley Pike of Pelham won his match by forfeit.
