Oak Mountain High School on lockdown due to campus ‘rumor’

NORTH SHELBY – Oak Mountain High School is on lockdown, according to the Shelby County Sheriff’s Office.

The lockdown began at about 1 p.m. today, according to a sheriff’s press release.

The lockdown was implemented “in response to a rumor that had been circulating on campus,” the release stated.

“The lockdown procedure was implemented as a precaution and at this time there has been no incident at the school,” the release continued. “Shelby County Sheriff’s Office personnel remain on scene fully investigating this incident.  This is an on-going situation and will updated when there is more information available.”
