Eagles edge rival Wildcats in consolation game

MONTEVALLO — The Calera High School girls’ basketball team edged rival Shelby County 45-42 in a consolation game Dec. 20 in the Shelby County tournament at Bank Trust Arena on the University of Montevallo campus.

Tyesha Haynes led the Eagles (6-4) with 16 points in the victory.

A’Kia Harris added 11 points. Perri Duncan chipped in seven points. Kayla Brown finished with six points.

Jocelyn Davis contributed three points. Taylor White finished with two points.

Aulicia Nunn led Shelby County (11-3) with a game-high 23 points.

Tempest Cantrell added eight points. Ashley Mizzell and Amber Johnson chipped in four points each.

Jasmyn Buie finished with two points. Victoria Adams contributed one point.
