The Thompson High School wrestling team won a couple of matches at Samford University in high school wrestling action Dec. 20.

The Warriors topped Hewitt-Trussville 40-26. Nine Thompson wrestlers won individual matches against the Huskies.

Jacob Megois of Thompson earned a 4-0 decision over Hunter Shoop of Hewitt-Trussville in the 106-pound match. Austin Gould of Thompson earned a 8-0 major decision over Dalton Meadows of Hewitt-Trussville in the 113-pound match.

Reed Jacks of Thompson pinned Hunter Russo of Hewitt-Trussville in the 120-pound match. Jacob Mayhall earned a 9-2 decision over Matthew Dehart of Hewitt-Trussville in the 138-pound match.

Nick Hall of Thompson won his 145-pound match by fofrfeit. John Austin (J.A.) Jones of Thompson pinned Austin Taylor of Hewitt-Trussville in the 152-pound match.

Josh Gillaspie of Thompson pinned Alex Denson of Hewitt-Trussville in the 152-pound match. Jesse Masters of Thompson earned a 2-1 decision over Marcus Elkins of Hewitt-Trussville in the 182-pound match.

David Capers of Thompson earned a 6-4 decision over Donovan Sulser of Hewitt-Trussville in the 195-pound match.

The Warriors defeated Auburn 59-21. Ten Thompson wrestlers won matches against Auburn, including Megois, Gold, Mayhall, Tyler Lacey, Tyler Hicks, Brewer Gilliland, Luke Moore, Cahman Holder, Masters and Capers.
