FROM STAFF REPORTS

The Shelby County Red Cross is currently in great need of administrative support volunteers.

These volunteers would be asked to oversee the front desk, schedule meetings and appointments, answer incoming emails and telephone calls regarding chapter operations and make referrals.

Without administrative support, the office cannot remain open throughout the week, according to a press release from the Shelby County Red Cross’ Andrew Buie,

“We are willing to work with any type of schedule and will take as much help as we can get,” Buie wrote.

The office, which is located at 4524 Southlake Parkway in Hoover, is open Monday through Friday from 9 a.m.-4 p.m.

Those interested in volunteering will be required to fill out a volunteer application and background check with the organization. Volunteers must also have a valid driver’s license. Instructions for completing these two documents will be provided to interested candidates.

In addition to administrative support volunteers, the Shelby County Red Cross also needs other volunteers for disaster relief.

“We currently have a great need for administrative support volunteers, but we always need volunteers and disaster volunteers for our chapter,” Buie wrote. “This is an ever-present need, as we can never have too many.”
