The Spain Park High School girls’ basketball team defeated Homewood 51-39 in an Alabama High School Athletic Association Class 6A, Area 12 contest Jan. 13.

Whitney Gulledge and Ashley Gaston led the Jaguars (13-10 overall, 1-1 in Class 6A, Area 12) with 12 points each in the victory.

Gulledge grabbed six rebounds, while Gaston pulled down three boards in the win.

Kathryn Boswell and Victoria Baldwin, who grabbed six rebounds, added seven points each. Jasmine Moore chipped in six points and a team-high eight rebounds.

Jessica Freeman contributed five points and seven rebounds. Takia Mickens finished with two points and three rebounds in the win.

BOYS

The Spain Park High School boys’ basketball team defeated Homewood 54-46 in an Alabama High School Athletic Association Class 6A, Area 12 contest Jan. 13.

Rembert Martin led the Jaguars (15-8 overall, 2-0 in Class 6A, Area 12) with 18 points in the victory. Martin also grabbed five rebounds.

Blake Dudchock recorded a double-double with 12 points and a team-high 17 rebounds. Robby Prater chipped in 11 points and two assists in the win.

Eric Washington contributed four points and a team-high four steals. Sean Taylor finished with three points. Drew Morgan added two points.
