Wildcats top Chilton County in wrestling match

The Shelby County High School wrestling team defeated Chilton County 42-36 in high school wrestling action Jan. 12.

Seven Wildcats won individual matches against Chilton County.

Austin Poe of Shelby County pinned Clay Bailey of Chilton County in the 145-pound match. Clint Davis of Shelby County pinned Andrew King of Chilton County in the 195-pound match.

Noah Dorough of Shelby County won his 106-pound match by forfeit. Aaron Stagner of Shelby County won his 113-pound match by forfeit.

Chase Weeks of Shelby County won his 152-pound match by forfeit. Chris Upton of Shelby County won his 160-pound match by forfeit.

Luke Miller of Shelby County won his 170-pound match by forfeit.

Six Chilton County wrestlers won individual matches against Shelby County.

Patrick Kurdziel of Chilton County pinned A.J. Cole of Shelby County in the 120-pound match. Richard Leige of Chilton County pinned Tyler Carter of Shelby County in the 126-pound match.

Paul Shearon of Chilton County pinned Killian Berens of Shelby County in the 132-pound match. Jaylon Landreth of Chilton County pinned Nick Horton of Shelby County in the 138-pound match.

Spencer Whatley of Chilton County pinned Dylan Grantham of Shelby County in the heavyweight match. Justyn Jackson of Chilton County won his 220-pound match by forfeit.

No wrestlers were entered in the 182-pound match.

Shelby County fell to McAdory 66-18 in a match Jan. 12. Three Wildcats won individual matches against McAdory.

Weeks pinned Jacob Haddock of McAdory in the 160-pound match.

Stagner won his 113-pound match by forfeit. Poe won his 145-pound match by forfeit.

The Wildcats fell to Fultondale 60-12 in a match Jan. 12. Two Shelby County wrestlers won individual matches against Fultondale.

Weeks pinned Brandon Gourley of Fultondale in the 152-pound match. Grantham won his heavyweight match by forfeit.
