Falcons swoop Road Runners in youth basketball

Complete results from week six of the Shelby County Youth Basketball League.

DIVISION 1

•       The Falcons swooped the Road Runners, 16 to 3. The Falcons were led by Andrew Whitner with 7 points, Will Price added 6 points, Chase Benson had 9 rebounds, Grant Gurganus picked up 5 steals, Delaina Johnson played hard, with Carson Roland, Logan Carson, and Jackson Morris showing good effort. The Road Runners were led by Cooper Bentley, Colin Davis, and Savannah Franklin with 1 point each. Bella Guy played hard and hustled.
•       The Eagles soared over the Sharks, 14 to 9. The Eagles were led by Paci Clark with 9 points, Livy Harmon had 4 rebounds, with Blake Jennings and Jaxson Stinson anchoring the defense. The Sharks were led by Christopher Brasher with 3 points, Jace Bolen had 4 rebounds, Austin Wilson played well defensively, and Hunter Carden hustled.

DIVISION 3

•       The Heat stayed just warm enough to thwart the Swish, 28 to 27. The Heat was led by Cole Jefferies with 10 points, Chase Franklin led in rebounds, Chadwyn Russ sparked the defense, Jeremiah Crenshaw hustled, and Devon Washington showed good effort. The Swish was led by Mitchell Kines with 13 points, Austin Lucas had 14 rebounds, Quadarrius Sawyer hustled, and Christopher Smith showed good effort.
•       The Rough Riders galloped to a 29 to 23 victory over the Blazers. The Rough Riders were led by Tasharious Whetstone with 13 points. Chip Nash added 10 points, Mitch Nash had 12 boards, Bailey Deshazo and Nathan Isbell anchored the defense, with Brock Phillips and Bradley Thomas providing valuable playing time. The Blazers were led by Will Morris with 8 points and 8 rebounds. Ethan Stevens and Jacob Howard had 5 steals each, Hugh Daniel Edwards played well on defense, with Tanner Colvin and Austin Dunn playing hard on both ends of the court.
•       The Lightning struck the Runnin’ Rebels, 36 to 24. The Lightning was led by Nathan Bates with 22 points and 10 rebounds. Dawson Humphries was a defensive stopper, Drake Carden added valuable minutes, and Tucker Dunaway showed great effort. The Runnin’ Rebels were led by Will Prosser with 14 and Caleb Jinright added 8 points.
•       The Terminators caged the Fighting Gerbils, 30 to 22. The Terminators were led by J.C. Parker with 14 points, Craig Sims had 7 rebounds, Conner Davis had 5 steals, Braxton Gillum had a rare 4 point play, and Billy Fryer hit his first basket of the season. The Fighting Gerbils were led by Trent Sullivan with 17 points and E.J. Johnson added 5.

DIVISION 2

•       The Heat blistered the Blazers, 35 to 30. The Heat was led by Eli Jones with 15 points, Coleman Byars had 11 rebounds, Lars Belfanz had 4 steals, and Nate Frey showed great effort.The Blazers were led by Jordan Morris with 15 points, Dustin Joiner had 8 rebounds, Landon Lawrence played well defensively, Payton Lawrence added 10 points, and the rest of the team showed good effort.
•       The Sweet Heat bagged the Gunners, 28 to 25. The Sweet Heat was led by T.J. McGinnis with 15 points, Alliyah Cotton added 7 points, Max Kearley led in rebounds, Tanner Roland was a defensive stopper, Troy Falkner hustled, and dave Kearley showed good effort. The Gunners were led by Conner Aderholt with 9 points, Jessie-Job White had 13 rebounds, Tre Aderholt anchored the defense, Noah Harper added 6 points, and Collin Jennings provided valuable minutes.
•       The Firedogs bit the Bulldogs, 34 to 23. The Firedogs were led by Riley Lewter with 23 points Andrew Gothard had 11 rebounds, Michael Roland was a defensive stopper, Matthew Crittendon had 10 rebounds, and Jon Michael Gay hustled and played hard. The Bulldogs were led by Chase Jones with 11 points and 13 rebounds. Chase Newman played well defensively and Joel Pennington scored 4 points.

DIVISION 6

•       The Fireballs ignited the Swish, 25 to 9. The Fireballs scoring came from Charley Clark (8), Sarah Goodwin (7), Alex Reed (4), Sarah Head (4), and Jayla Pettway (2). The Swish was led by Ashlyn Ruston-Seale with 5 points, Katrice Burns had 4 rebounds, and Sarah Ruth Lipscomb hustled and played hard.
•       The Hobo Thunder rumbled to a 17 to 7 victory over Frostie’s Shakes. The Hobo Thunder was led by Keelie Yowe with 7 points, Erynn Joiner was the top rebounder, Patti McGee was a defensive force, Alexis Franklin provided valuable minutes, and Natalee Garrett showed good effort. The Shakes were led by Beth Upton with 4 points, Katelyn Bevard had 16 rebounds, Summer Knight played tough defense, Emily Johnson and Jordan Price hustled, and Anna Wood showed good effort.

DIVISION 4

•       Block Party blew up the A-Team, 44 to 17. Block Party was led by Tanner Brooks with 13 points and Jeremiah Trice scored 11. The A-Team was led by Jim Vick with 6 points.
•       The Flight flew over the Mighty Midgets, 26 to 20. The Flight was led by Joseph Joiner with 8 points, Dylan Hallman and Daniel Moody were the top rebounders, Brett McKinney and Cory Martin were defensive stoppers, Adam Landefeld shot 67% from the free throw line, Trevor Garrett and Micah Broderick hustled, and Tanner Glass showed good effort. The Mighty Midgets scoring came from Grant Joiner (10), Robbie Higgins (4), Isaiah Kemp (3), and Tyler Holmes (3).
