The Kingwood Christian School girls’ basketball team defeated Morgan Academy 53-46 in high school basketball action Jan. 16.

Madelyn Pearce led the Lions (5-13) with 20 points in the victory. Pearce also grabbed three rebounds.

Casey Whitmer added a double-double with 13 points and a team-high 15 rebounds. Katie Etheridge nearly posted a double-double with nine points and 12 boards.

Blair Holsombeck chipped in five points and seven rebounds. Kenzie Greer contributed four points and six boards.

Karley Chamblee finished with two points and one rebound. Sarah Salmon grabbed three rebounds.

BOYS

The Kingwood Christian School boys’ basketball team defeated Morgan Academy 67-37 in high school basketball action Jan. 16.

Daniel Fillingim and Josh Purvis led the Lions (7-11) with 18 points in the victory. Fillingim also grabbed a team-high 16 rebounds to finish with a double-double. Purvis added three rebounds and two assists.

Andrew Whitfield and Jordan Vance added eight points each.

Tyler Harrell, Jared Stewart and Charles Robinson chipped in four points each. Stewart also grabbed four rebounds and dished out two assists.

Dalton Sparks contributed two points. Jacob Bussey finished with one point, four rebounds and two assists.
