Kingwood Christian falls to Tuscaloosa Academy in area contest

The Kingwood Christian School boys’ basketball team fell to Tuscaloosa Academy 75-57 in an Alabama Independent Schools Association Class 3A, Area 2 contest Jan. 20.

Daniel Fillingim led the Lions (7-11 overall, 0-3 in AISA Class 3A, Area 2) with a game-high 31 points. Fillingim, who recorded a team-high four steals, also grabbed a team-high 15 rebounds to finish with a double-double.

Josh Purvis added 11 points and six rebounds. Jacob Bussey chipped in eight points and four rebounds.

Andrew Whitfield contributed three points and three rebounds. Jordan Vance and Jared Stewart finished with two points each.

GIRLS

The Kingwood Christian School girls’ basketball team fell to Tuscaloosa Academy 33-10 in an Alabama Independent Schools Association Class 3A, Area 2 contest Jan. 20.

Casey Whitmer and Katie Etheridge led the Lions (5-14) with five points each.
