INVERNESS — Winn-Dixie is moving into space formerly occupied by another supermarket in the Inverness Corners shopping center.

Hoover Mayor Gary Ivey said the supermarket chain recently acquired a permit to remodel the 60,000-square-foot vacant space formerly occupied by Bruno’s.

“They’ve been approved, and to my understanding, they’ve started work,” Ivey said.

Ivey said he did not know when the new Winn-Dixie will open.

“Anytime we have the means to bring new commercial businesses to the city, we’re always excited about it,” he said. “It’ll have a very positive impact. It’ll bring more shoppers to the area and to the other businesses.”

Inverness Corners is located at the intersection of Valleydale Road and U.S. 280.
