Chargers sweep rival Rebels

COLUMBIANA — The Cornerstone Christian School boys’ basketball team flew past the Coosa Valley Academy Rebels in an Alabama Independent Schools Association Class 1A, Area 1 game Jan. 20.

The Rebels’ definitely picked up their game and showed what they had during the second half, but the Chargers came out ready to play the whole night as the won 57-29.

“I thought we really played well especially defensively,” said Cornerstone Christian head coach Tim Smith. “We started out fast and that’s what we really wanted to do.”

Coosa Valley’s Stephen Cryer led the Rebels with 11 points. Adam McCranie contributed with 5 points.

The Chargers stayed up the entire game and went into the locker room with a 30-13 lead.

“We played as hard as we could tonight and we played great defense,” said Cornerstone Christian Senior Kendal Moore.

Moore led the Chargers with 28 points. Following behind him were Seniors Chase Payne with 9 points and Auston Wingard with 7 points.
