De’Vinner to host local combine

The De’Vinner Foundation, managed by former Calera High School football standout Byron De’Vinner, will host a football combine for eighth graders who will be freshman next year through rising seniors in the Class of 2013 on Saturday, Feb. 4 from 1-5 p.m. at the D1 Sports Indoor Facility, located at 1651 Independence Court in Birmingham.

“I want these kids to have fun and I want to provide them an opportunity they wouldn’t normally have,” said De’Vinner, who played college football at UAB.

The combine will be a Nike Sparq rating combine, and will be covered by Scout.com, Alabama Insiders, ESPN and other recruiting services, De’Vinner said.

John Patton, who is a certified Nike Sparq Trainer, will conduct the testing. Other former and current college and professional athletes along with De’Vinner will conduct the combine.

Most importantly, information will be provided for the NCAA Clearinghouse covered during the combine.
