The Spain Park High School girls’ basketball team edged Vestavia Hills 42-39 in an Alabama High School Athletic Association Class 6A, Area 12 contest Jan. 27.

Jessica Freeman led the Jaguars (18-10 overall, 5-1 in Class 6A, Area 12) with 12 points in the victory. Freeman also grabbed two rebounds and dished out two assists.

Whitney Gulledge added 10 points. Kathryn Boswell chipped in nine points and a team-high three assists.

Victoria Baldwin contributed six points and four rebounds. Ashley Gaston finished with three points. Jasmine Moore added two points to go along with a team-high nine rebounds and four steals.

Jasmine Hollis grabbed seven rebounds.

BOYS

The Spain Park High School boys’ basketball team defeated Vestavia Hills 42-38 in an Alabama High School Athletic Association Class 6A, Area 12 contest Jan. 27.

Rembert Martin led the Jaguars (18-9 overall, 5-1 in Class 6A, Area 12) with 12 points in the victory. Martin also grabbed five rebounds.

Robby Prater added nine points and two assists. Blake Dudchock chipped in eight points and five rebounds.

Eric Washington contributed seven points, four rebounds and two assists. Sean Taylor finished with four points. Jonathon Troulias added two points and two rebounds.
