Eagles top Pell City

The Oak Mountain High School girls’ basketball team defeated Pell City on senior night in high school basketball action Jan. 31.
Hannah Griffin led the Eagles (17-9) with 15 points, including two 3-pointers, in the victory.
Mackenzie Garmany added 12 points in the win.
The game marked the final home game for three seniors, including Griffin, Maegen McDanal and Julia Ferguson.
BOYS
The Oak Mountain High School boys’ basketball team lost a close game to Pell City, 46-45, Jan. 31 on senior night.
The Eagles (3-20) trailed 22-20 at the half and 35-27 at the end of the third quarter before rallying in the fourth quarter. The Eagles comeback came up just short, as a potential game winning shot at the buzzer was off the mark.
Justin Whisenant led the Eagles’ scoring attack with 14 points and Graham McArthur added 12 points. Others scoring for the Eagles were Chris Lamb with eight points, Scott Hester with four points, Chris Marino and Austin Jenkins with three points each and Jordan Pierce with one point.
Playing in their final home game for the Eagles were seniors Whisenant, McArthur and Pierce.
