Shirley Jean Jarvis, was born April 28, 1937, and passed away on Jan. 29, 2012 at the age of 74.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert (Bob) E. Jarvis; her parents, Will and Bessie Burt; five sisters and two brothers.

She is survived by her children, Charlotte Cox (Dr. Phillip R.), Sherry Edwards (Marty) and Phillip Jarvis (Donna); her grandchildren, Dr. Joseph Cox (Dr. Lynsey), Nicholas Cox, Andrea Shew (Ben), Shaun Jarvis (Bethany) and Sara Jarvis; one great-grandchild, Amber Shew; her sisters, Kathryn Caffee and Robbie Nixon; her brother, James Burt; and a host of nephews, nieces and cousins.

She was a daughter, sister, wife, loving mother, grandmother and friend to many, who will always be remembered for the many sacrifices she made on our behalf. She served others with the gift of hospitality and will be greatly missed by all. The family wishes to thank Gentiva Hospice Services.

Visitation will be on Saturday, Feb. 4, 2012 at Macedonia Baptist Church in Pea Ridge between noon and 2 p.m. prior to the funeral service. Service will follow at 2 p.m. at Macedonia Baptist Church directed by Rockco’s Funeral Home Montevallo with Bob Durham officiating. She will be laid to rest at the cemetery of Macedonia Baptist Church.
