The Calera High School wrestling team defeated Chelsea 37-21 in high school wrestling action Feb. 2.

Seven Eagles won individual matches against Chelsea.

Shawn O’Neill of Calera earned a 15-5 major decision over John Dowd of Chelsea in the 145-pound match. Cody Thomaston of Calera earned a 4-3 decision over Chandler Wood of Chelsea in the 152-pound match.

Hunter Alexander of Calera won his 106-pound match by forfeit. Kennan Agee of Calera won his 120-pound match by forfeit.

Vincent Smith of Calera won his 182-pound match by forfeit. Braxton Stokes of Calera won his 220-pound match by forfeit.

Danny Diaz of Calera won his heavyweight match by forfeit.

Four Chelsea wrestlers won four individual matches against Calera.

Michael Early of Chelsea pinned Jesse Davis of Calera in 1:00 in the 160-pound match. Josh Templeton of Chelsea won his 170-pound match.

Joseph Wipperman of Chelsea won his 126-pound match by forfeit. Austin Chadwick of Chelsea won his 138-pound match by forfeit.

Calera defeated American Christian Academy 34-24.

Six Eagles won individual matches against American Christian.

Cody Thomaston of Calera earned a 12-3 major decision over Austen Akins of American Christian in the 160-pound match. Danny Diaz of Calera pinned Preston McDaniel of American Christian in 1:00 in the heavyweight match.

Hunter Alexander of Calera won his 106-pound match by forfeit. Keenan Agee of Calera won his 120-pound match by forfeit.

David Downard recorded the Hornets’ lone individual victory after winning the heavyweight match by forfeit.
