Mike Hassett, age 90, a resident of Vincent, passed away on Sunday, Feb. 5, 2012. He and his wife, the late Agnes Falls Hassett, lived in Albany, Ga. before he retired from the Norfolk Southern Railroad to live in Vincent.

Mr. Hassett was born to Michael Thomas and Evelyn Bell Hassett on March 16, 1921.  He served in the Armed Forces during WWII under the command of General George S.  Patton.  He attended Vincent United Methodist Church.

He was preceded in death by his parents and five brothers, Dalton, Fred, James, Owen and Tom. His survivors are two sisters, Louise Deason and Mary Smiley (Rex), both of Vincent. He was uncle to 15 (Hassett) nieces and nephews.

Graveside service will be held on Wednesday, Feb, 8, 2012 at 2 p.m. in the afternoon at the Vincent City Cemetery. Visitation will be from 1-1:45 p.m. at the Vincent United Methodist Church.

A special thank you is sent to Mike’s caregivers who showed kindness and compassion to him while he was a resident at the Sylacauga Health and Rehab Center.
