Eagles split wrestling matches

The Calera High School wrestling team split a pair of matches with Chilton County and Walker in high school wrestling action Feb. 7.

The Eagles defeated Chilton County 36-27. Six Calera wrestlers won individual matches against Chilton County.

Shawn O’Neill of Calera pinned Jaylon Landreth of Chilton County in the 145-pound match. Cody Thomaston of Calera pinned Clay Bailey of Chilton County in the 152-pound match.

Danny Diaz of Calera earned a 9-7 decision over Justyn Jackson of Chilton County in the 220-pound match. Braxton Stokes of Calera pinned Spencer Watley of Chilton County in the heavyweight match.

Hunter Alexander of Calera won his 106-pound match by forfeit. Coby Mize of Calera won his 160-pound match by forfeit.

Jaylin Washington of Calera won his 170-pound match by forfeit. Vincent Smith of Calera won his 182-pound match by forfeit.

The Eagles dropped a match against Walker, 48-36. Six Calera wrestlers won individual matches against Walker.

O’Neill pinned Jordan Brown of Walker in 3:00 in the 145-pound match. Thomaston pinned Alex Lilley  of Walker in 1:50 in the 152-pound match.

Diaz pinned Torelle Young of Walker in 1:00 in the 220-pound match.

Alexander won his 106-pound match by forfeit. Keenan Agee of Calera won his 120-pound match by forfeit. Mize won his 160-pound match by forfeit.
