George W. Payton, age 87, passed way Feb. 6, 2012. He was born in Pelham on Oct. 13, 1924 to the late Wiley and Ellen Payton; one brother and five sisters. He is survived by his loving wife of 66 years, Mary Nell Payton; his daughter, Linda Diann Fulton (Loyd); grandchildren, Gerry Fulton, Rebecca Dawn Fulton and Victoria Leigh Fulton; and several special nieces and nephews. The family wants to extend heartfelt gratitude to The Shelby Cancer Center, New Beacon Hospice and Dr. Gary Howard. The family will have a private graveside service at a later date. All donations can be made in George’s name to New Beacon Hospice, Alabaster. Charter Funeral Home directed.
