Ronald Edward Morrison Sr., age 95, a resident of Shelby, passed away on Tuesday, Feb. 7, 2012. Funeral services will be 1 p.m., Friday, Feb. 10, 2012 at Bolton Funeral Home with Judy Quick officiating. Entombment will follow at Elmwood Mausoleum.  Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at Bolton Funeral Home.

A native of South Dakota, born Jan. 13, 1917, he spent most of his working life in Milwaukee, Wis. He was a mine hoist engineer, working for Rexnord Manufacturing.  Ronald was responsible for the installation of mine hoist equipment and as such traveled extensively around North and South America and Europe, Asia and Australia. His job brought him to Alabama in the 1970s when he worked at the Jim Walter’s mines in the Tuscaloosa area. He retired in the early 1980s and with his wife Vera eventually moved to Shelby. He loved to fish and spent many happy years enjoying Lay Lake.

Mr. Morrison is preceded in death by his wife, Vera Morrison. He is survived by his children, Ron Morrison Jr. (Duffy) of Shelby and Sam Morrison of Marietta, Ga.; grandchildren, Michelle Ivey (David) and their sons, Hunter and Andrew of Baton Rouge, La.; Teresa Poore (Jeff) and their children, Abby and Alex of Leeds; Ruth Morrison-Ramos (Valentin) and their son, Lito of Woodside, N.Y.; Ben Morrison (Lorraina) of Brooklyn, N.Y.; and other family and friends.
