Warriors edge Eagles in area tournament

The Thompson High School girls’ basketball team edged Oak Mountain 32-31 in an Alabama High School Athletic Association Class 6A, Area 10 semifinal contest Feb. 9 at Hoover High School.

The Warriors will meet host Hoover in the Class 6A, Area 10 championship game Feb. 13 at 6 p.m.

KaDeisha Stowes led Thompson (16-10) with a game-high 13 points in the victory.

Kat Cingoranelli and Janese Richardson added six points each. Hannah Oglesby, Sophie Cingoranelli and Abby Kreuser chipped in two points each.

Taylor Underwood finished with one point in the win.

Mackenzie Garmany led Oak Mountain (17-11) with nine points.

Madison Pierce added eight points. Hannah Griffin chipped in five points.

Julia Ferguson finished with three points. Bailey Upchurch, Maegan McDanal and Christian McGowan contributed two points each.
