Nell Jones Myrick Banks, age 74, of Maylene, formerly of Gadsden, departed from this earth to go home to her heavenly father on Friday, Feb. 10, 2012.

She is preceded in death by her father; William Baxter Jones and mother, Janie A. Mary Englebert Jones; brother, William Franklin Jones; and daughter, Sharon Myrick. She is survived by her son; Danny Myrick of Maylene, and sister, Betty Shaneyfelt (Thornie) of Gadsden; nieces; Rhonda Strawn (Steve), Sonia Nelson (Mike) and Tracy Medley (Johnny); nephew, Thornie Shaneyfelt Jr.; grandchildren, Stacey Romano (Tony), Danielle Vincent (Rob), Holley Myrick (Jason), Chryssy, Kaley and Shelby Myrick; great-grandchildren, Gabriel Dutton, Sara and Anna Drake, Chloe Fuller, Alyssa and Aubury Stricklin and Seth Romano; great-niece, Lindsey Strawn; and great-nephews, Blake Strawn, Matthew Nelson, Isaiah and Isaac Medley.

She was an ordained minister that loved the Lord and everyone that crossed her path. A graduate from West Jefferson High School, she exceeded academically by becoming employed with Bellsouth as a long distance operator and later became a private in–home LPN. Nell had a big heart, always helping others and considered herself very blessed even on her worst days. We will miss her beautiful smile and inspiring words, but we’ll know she is above watching over us for eternity. A special thanks to Daphene Smith and Ann Wagnon.
