The Briarwood Christian School girls’ soccer team defeated Pleasant Grove 17-0 in its season-opening match Feb. 14.

Sara Smeltzer, Hannah Hutson and Sarah Drew Mulvaney led the Lions (1-0) with three goals each in the victory. Smeltzer also finished with two assists.

Morgan Jernigan and Shelly Proctor added two goals each. Catherine Cowen, Jessica Harmon, Madison Pearson and Susie Walker scored one goal each.

Cowen also finished with two assists. Halley Hawkins recorded the shutout in goal for the Lions.
