Oak Mountain High School senior David Dahl owns a baseball resume worthy of a first-round pick in the 2012 Major League Baseball Draft in June.

Dahl finished his junior season  at Oak Mountain with a .449 batting average. The 6-foot-2, 185-pound outfielder also compiled 18 doubles, three triples and two home runs while driving in 29 runs.

The Shelby County native spent his summer and fall representing his country as part of the U.S.A. Baseball 18-and-under National team, while also making an appearance in the Perfect Game All-American Classic in August. Dahl signed a college baseball scholarship with Auburn University last November.

Dahl will attempt to complete his amateur baseball career with a feat equal to his previous individual accomplishments — an Alabama High School Athletic Association Class 6A championship.

Dahl is among several hundred student-athletes in Shelby County with the same goal — a state championship — this spring.

Four teams are hoping to repeat as state champions in 2012.

The Spain Park High School girls’ soccer team is looking for an impressive fourth-consecutive, and fifth overall, AHSAA Class 6A state championship.

The Oak Mountain High School boys’ soccer team, which owns four state titles, is battling for a second-consecutive AHSAA Class 6A championship.

Coosa Valley Academy is searching for its third consecutive Alabama Independent Schools Association Class 1A baseball championship.

The Cornerstone Christian School softball team is competing for a remarkable sixth consecutive AISA Class 1A softball championship.

Information on each Shelby County high school baseball, softball and soccer team can be found below. Rosters will be updated as they are received.
