The Spain Park High School girls’ soccer team defeated Hewitt-Trussville 1-0 in its season-opening match Feb. 15.

Simone Charley led the Jaguars (1-0) with her game-winning goal in the second half.

Elizabeth Schmidt provided an assist on the goal for Spain Park, which is the three-time defending Alabama High School Athletic Association Class 6A state champion.

Spain Park goalkeeper Schyler Arnold led the Jaguars with three saves in the shutout.
