Spain Park wrestler finishes runner-up

Spain Park High School senior Tommy Bostany finished runner-up in the Alabama High School Athletic Association Class 6A 120-pound bracket during the state tournament Feb. 18 at the Von Braun Center in Huntsville.

Bostany, who has signed a wrestling scholarship with the University of Maryland, fell to Jake Smith of Pell City 4-3 in an ultimate tie breaker.

Bostany was one of three Spain Park wrestlers to place in the AHSAA Class 6A state tournament.

Kameron Ricks of Spain Park finished third in the 195-pound division after earning a 13-11 decision over Rico Lewis of Opelika in the third-place match.

Mo Mills of Spain Park came in third place in the 220-pound division after earning a 8-0 major decision over Lloyd Time of Oak Mountain in the third-place match.

Cody Wehunt of Pelham finished third in the AHSAA Class 6A 160-pound division after earning a 16-7 major decision over Jack Nelson of Vestavia Hills in the third-place match.

Chase Weeks of Shelby County finished fourth in the AHSAA Class 5A 152-pound division after dropping a 15-6 major decision to Cipriano Labra of Athens in the third-place match.
