The Coosa Valley Academy softball team defeated Macon East 7-5 in its season-opening game Feb. 20.

Carlee Yarnell and Danielle Richardson led the Rebels at the plate after each went 3-for-3 with two singles and a double. Richardson also drove in two runs.

Jessica Parris finished 2-for-3 at the plate and drove in one run. Kala Shaw, who drove in two runs, Allison Craft and Amelia Ripley had a double each. Hope Myrick finished with three sacrifices in the victory.

Hannah Vick went the distance in the circle and recorded four strikeouts in the win. Vick also finished with a single and drove in a run at the plate.
