Lions top Walker

The Briarwood Christian School baseball team topped Walker 4-2 in the Jay D. Kynerd Memorial tournament Feb. 22.

Ben Craft, who went 1-for-3 at the plate and scored a run, homered and drove in two runs in the victory.

Matthew Furuto and Will Dyson led the Lions (2-1) with two hits each. Furuto finished 2-for-3 and scored a run, while Dyson went 2-for-2 at the plate and drove in a run.

Tanner Cunningham finished 1-for-2. Cole Pearson went 1-for-1 and scored a run. Brayden Housel drove in one run. Ethan Simmons scored one run.

Barnes Bankston earned the win on the mound after giving up two unearned runs on one hit with seven strikeouts and a walk in 5 2/3 innings.

Cunningham allowed just one hit with three strikeouts and a walk in 1 1/3 innings in relief.

Briarwood Christian will face Spain Park in the Jay D. Kynerd Memorial tournament championship game Feb. 23 at 6 p.m.
