Jaguars shut out West Point

The Spain Park High School baseball team defeated West Point 14-0 in the Jay D. Kynerd Memorial tournament Feb. 22.

Colton Freeman led the Jaguars (3-0) at the plate as he finished 2-for-3 with a homerun. Freeman drove in three runs and scored two runs in the victory.

Jacob Chaffin finished 2-for-3 at the plate with an RBI and three runs scored. Hunter Hall went 1-for-2 with a double, two RBIs and two runs scored.

Paul Angel finished 1-for-4 with two RBIs and a run scored. Grant Veteto went 1-for-1 and drove in a run.

Brandon Marley finished 1-for-2 with an RBI and a run scored. Wes Barrentine went 1-for-2 at the plate. Davis Kennington, Tom Paduch, Peyton Walsh, Will McDonald and Brandon Bilek scored one run each in the win.

Dustin Cowart earned the win on the mound after giving up just two hits with four strikeouts and one walk in 3 2/3 innings.

Taylor Morris struck out one batter in 1 1/3 innings in relief.

Spain Park will face Briarwood Christian in the Jay D. Kynerd Memorial tournament championship game Feb. 23 at 6 p.m.
